Four Bolingbrook High School students qualified for ACT-SO (Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics) nationals in Maryland Saturday by winning gold medals at the DuPage ACT-SO competition.
Senior Cristal Johnson earned a gold in Chemistry, sophomore Jordan Sharber brought home a gold in Drama, sophomore Avia Wideman won gold in Oratory, and mid-year grad Donavan Kirk received a gold in Poetry-written.
All four will compete against roughly 600 other students from around the country at ACT-SO nationals in Baltimore in July.
Wideman also earned a silver medal in Poetry-performance. BHS junior Alexis Johnson won a silver in Oratory and a bronze in Painting. Junior Kayla Marshall took home a silver in Sculpture.
Bronze medalists from BHS include: Symone Robinson in Chemistry, Veo Taylor in Original Essay, John Williams in Physics and Rachel Odame in Short Story.
Bryson Rivers received honorable mention in Engineering and Eva Martinez earned an honorable mention in Vocal Contemporary.
